Website Buying Tutorials – Part 1 - What Is an Exact Match Domain Name?

You might've seen one of the latest buzzwords in website selling marketplaces like flippa.com. That buzzword or phrase is "exact match". This is supposed to describe an exact match keyword domain name.

An example of an exact match domain name would be Internetmarketing.com. This would be a very valuable domain name where there was a website placed on it or not.

Exact match keyword domain names are considered to be advantageous for the purposes of search engine optimization. Numerous SEO experts have tested this out and found it to be true and we have found it to be true as well. Because of the SEO benefit exact match keyword domains get snatched up pretty quickly.

Because the popularity and desirability of exact match keyword domain names some sellers have seen fit to highlight the fact that their domain name is an exact match domain name. Buyers should exercise caution when seeing such things advertised because it is not always true. Our reason for saying that is that an exact match keyword domain name must contain keywords. Basically if no one is searching for a word is not keyword.

There is one seller in particular who has been advertising exact match domain names that are actually not exact match domain names. The Flippa seller name is etoolcntrl.

The seller has advertised several domains is exact match which in fact actually are not. Here are some examples:

FBTrafficBlueprint.com FB Traffic Blueprint = 0 searches per month
TubeTrafficMastery.com Tube Traffic Mastery = 0 searches per month
SocialTrafficRenegade.com Social Traffic Renegade = 0 searches per month

With these keyword phrases each gaining no searches every month they are definitely not exact match domain names. There are one of two possibilities here, either the seller does not know what an exact match domain name is, or the seller is intentionally calling the domain exact match in order to gain more sales. In either case the information provided by the seller is inaccurate as well as misleading.

This does not mean that there are not good exact match keyword domains on flippa.com. It simply means that you need to make certain that you do your due diligence so that you get exactly what you paid for.
